Florence is well aware of this, as the high number of suitable-for disabled people places show.

To start, many urban buses in Florence have slide platforms for wheelchairs. All this buses cover the most important routes in the town, particularly those in the centre, where the major museums are situated.

Wich are the museums that consent an Accessibile Tourism? Starting by the king of all the museums, it’s not possible to forget one of the most magic places in the world: Galleria degli Uffici, built by Giorgio Vasari for the Medicis and seat of one of the greatest art collections. It’s accessible by a slide platform, an elevator of 75 cm, suitable toilets. Forty halls are at disposal of wheelchairs, so that the tourist will enjoy at his ease the masterpieces of Botticelli, Leonardo, Giotto and all the major Renaissance artists.

And accessible, among other museums, are also Galleria Palatina in Palazzo Pitti, Palazzo Vecchio, Santa Maria Novella Museum, San Giovanni Baptistery, Opera di Santa Croce Museum,  Bargello, Archeological Museum, Galleria dell’Accademia with the renown Michelangelo’s David (you can also book tactile visits here), Synagogue and Jewish Museum, Boboli Garden and Ponte Vecchio, which however, for its inclination and ancient paving, require the presence of an escort.

So, a high percentage of accessible institutions is suitable for all kind of tourism: practically all the important ones in Florence.
